Thesis Week 7: Midterms
Reflections
Last Tuesday I presented on the current state of my thesis — Women’s Health. The criteria included:
- Problem statement
- Desk research: femtech & competitive analysis
- User interview insights
- Value propositions
- Basic brainstorming
With only 5 min to present, I focused on giving a high-level view of my process and insights so far, hopefully, giving crits enough information to provide thoughtful feedback.
Feedback
The crits, Attia & Josephine gave a lot of feedback for me to noodle on. The high level takeaways are —
- My current demographic is broad. I should scope down because there are different issues women face.
- There’s a health disparity in low income communities. Primarily affecting Black and latina women, who are not being served. To solve for them, there’s a need to go them, to integrate into their daily life.
- Need to think about how comfortable women are giving personal health info because it’s personal and private.
- What are the information women are seeking? Could the project be scoped down more to focus on puberty?
Next Steps
- Reach out to resources given from crits.
- Need to scope my project — by demographic of women or by health category. I think this will with a lot of the ambiguity.
- Find more diverse women to interview.
