🥁 Chosen Topic

Last week I was between two topics — Women’s Health and Spreading of Misinformation and this week, I have to choose one to move forward with. I expected the choice to be more anxiety inducing but as I reflected between the two, I realized there was one topic I was more excited to talk to people about. So drumroll please!

The winner for Chosen Topic is…Women’s Health!

🔍 Problem Statement

I’ve gone through various mild(ish) issues with my reproductive health and have felt alone and lost at times so I’m assuming there are other women who’ve felt the same.

What is the problem?

Lack of accessible resources and information for women about their health.

If solved, what will it do for the user?

Better understand their body and health. Be proactive.

Why is it important?

By better understanding their bodies and health, women will feel more empowered and comfortable in their own skin.

👥 Defining Personas

Because Women’s Health is broad, the current personas are simple and based on ages of women. The current age factors I’m looking at are include stages of reproductive health, and lifestyle changes like the average age when women are getting married and pregnant.

🙋🏻‍♀️ Conversations

I reached out to two friends and had a chat with them about their health experiences and thoughts around women’s health. They are both within the first user group.

Questions

  • How do you define Women’s Health?
  • What types of general health problems have you had? Have you had any women health-related issues? If so, what?
  • Who do you talk to about women health issues?
  • What health-related products/services do you like to use?
  • What do you do to stay healthy?

Insights

  • Both think of women’s health as women’s reproductive health
  • Both haven’t had any reproductive health issues or irregularities
  • Both rarely talk to their mothers about these issues, sometimes will with their friends
  • Both are physically active, working out 4–6 times a week

In the next coming weeks, I will be trying to connect with women diverse in age, race, cultural background, and sexual orientation. I’m also looking to reach out to professionals specializing within women’s health like OB/GYNs.
